Escobaria weberbaueriana
What kind is it - Escobaria chaffeyi ??
Does Escobaria weberbaueriana exist, and if so, where is it described?
Or is it an incorrect spelling for Esc. muehlbaueriana, whereby in my opinion the appearance does not fit here?

Hello escobarian friends,
today I turn to you with a question:

A few years ago I bought a plant called Escobaria weberbaueriana. This flowered for the first time last year - see attached photo.

Despite intensive searches on the Internet and in the literature, I was unable to find any information about this name. Therefore my questions:

What kind is it - Escobaria chaffeyi ??
Does Escobaria weberbaueriana exist, and if so, where is it described?
Or is it an incorrect spelling for Esc. muehlbaueriana, whereby in my opinion the appearance does not fit here?

I would be very happy to receive an answer to these questions.
With best regards
Jürgen Hofmann

According to the photo, it is a Escobaria chaffeyi taxon.

The name Escobaria weberbaueriana is invalid. No plant has been described under this name. See IPNI.

The origin of the name is not known, probably an incorrect transcription of E. muehlbaueriana, which was wrongly assigned to another taxon.

Hello,

Name or taxon Esco. weberbaueriana does not exist as correctly stated.

Most likely it is some form of Esco. chaffeyi or Esco. dasyacantha sensu Taylor. But it's definitely not a mysterious plant. It is necessary to know the origin of the plant. Writing: "I received a plant some time ago"…. From whom, where is the source? is it bought somewhere on ebay, on the market, from a friend, or from decent sellers???

Years ago I designed the form with the green colored flower as f. viridiflora (Fobea viridiflora sensu Fric). They only difference is in the color of the flowers.

Hello,
I absolutely agree with Jan Riha. I lean a little more towards the name Esc. dasyacantha too. This is nothing special. I saw similar plants on the way between Coyame and Ojinaga in Chihuahua and then at the Mulato Canyon east of Ojinaga.
